The final table is set in the 2016 World Series of Poker $50,000 eight-game Poker Players Championship. From a field of 91 entries now only six players remain to battle it out for the title, the bracelet, the first-place prize of $1,296,097 and the honor of having their name added to the David “Chip” Reese Memorial Trophy.
As you would expect from an event as prestigious as this, the final table is absolutely stacked with seven bracelets and more than $44,113,197 in combined live tournament earnings between them.
The chip leader heading into the final day is Justin Bonomo with 7,750,000. This is his fourth final table of the 2016 WSOP, with three top-three finishes so far including in two $10,000 buy-in championship events.
Bonomo will have plenty of tough competition, including two prior champions of this event in two-time winner Michael Mizrachi (2010, 2012) and Brian Rast (2011). High stakes mixed game regular and 2016 WSOP $10,000 razz champion Ray Dehkharghani comes in as the short stack with only 395,000 for less than two big bets.
Defending champion Mike Gorodinsky made an impressive run at a title defense, ultimately falling short of the final table in 13th place ($75,833). Other notables who busted today include four-time bracelet winner Robert Mizrachi (14th – $75,833), all-time live tournament earnings leader Daniel Negreanu (12th – $92,702), two-time bracelet winner Paul Volpe (11th – $92,702), three-time bracelet winner Rep Porter (10th – $116,571) and five-time WSOP champ Daniel Alaei (8th – $150,672).
The remaining players are all guaranteed at least a payday $200,027. Play will resume at 2:00 PM local time, with the WSOP.com live streaming broadcast getting underway 30 minutes later.
