From a field of 359 entries who turned out to the Playground Poker Club in Montreal now just 11 players remain in the 2016 World Cup of Cards Card Player Poker Tour $1,650 CAD no-limit hold’em event. On Tuesday, Sept. 13 one of the remaining players will emerge victorious as the champion and hoist the WCC trophy and the first-place prize of $110,000 CAD.

Montreal native Tomas Larivee Magni will enter day 3 as the chip leader with 2,294,000. Other big stacks include Brady Hinegan with 1,886,000 and Laurence Louie with 1,231,000.

The 11 players who survived are now all guaranteed at least a $8,100 CAD payday. The tournament featured a $400,000 guarantee which was easily surpassed when 359 entries turned out to create a final prize pool of $522,345 CAD.

A total of 91 players returned for day 2, with only the top 36 finishers making the money. Sofiane Boulila, who came into the day as the largest stack, finished 31st for the minimum cash of $3,200 CAD.

Notable players who were eliminated outside of the money on day 2 include Canadian poker pros Samuel Chartier and Marc Etienne McLaughlin, who finished sixth in the 2013 World Series of Poker main event.

The final day resumes at noon local time. Play will continue until a champion is decided.
