It wasn’t quite the $1 million prize he won on the German version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, but Sebastian Langrock is still ecstatic with the $268,555 he picked up after taking down the $1,500 no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha event at the 2017 World Series of Poker.
Langrock earned his first career bracelet for topping a field of 1,058, earning the biggest chunk of the $1,428,300 prize pool. His previous best score came in 2014, when he took third in a WPT Prague preliminary event for $57,318.
“I was planning on going home like a week ago,” Langrock admitted. “I was here for three weeks but then I was like, I’m not that Vegas-tired, like I was the years before after three weeks. So I decided spontaneously to extend my stay, and that worked out pretty f@*$&#g well.”
The German defeated bracelet-winner Ryan Laplante heads-up for the title. Other notables at the final table included Esther Taylor (4th), Shannon Shorr (5th) and Fernando Brito (8th). Mark Radoja (10th), Chris Moorman (17th), Juha Helppi (28th), Bryce Yockey (39th), Shawn Busse (42nd), Steve Gross (43rd), Matt Affleck (48th) and Tom Cannuli (49th) also made deep runs in the tournament.
