One of the largest poker rooms on the Las Vegas Strip was robbed Tuesday afternoon, according to local police.
Authorities said that at approximately 3:45 p.m. local time a white adult male entered the Bellagio and walked up to the poker cage deep inside the casino and demanded money. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
He was armed with a handgun and wore a mask, police said. He fled in a Chevrolet Cruze, which has been recovered by police. No one was injured.
Police were still searching for the suspect as of around 6 a.m. local time on Wednesday. “Those who commit crimes like this on the Strip will be hunted down and whatever amount of cash he got is not enough to face a lifetime in prison,” Metro Capt. John Pelletier said, per a report from the Las Vegas Sun.
There were several witnesses of the crime, including Hollywood actor James Woods.
So we are playing poker at the @BellagioPoker and a guy walks up with a gun and robs the cage thirty feet from us ten minutes ago.

.@Bellagio staff were fantastic. They surrendered the money quietly, so no customers would get hurt. Nobody even realized it was happening. Excellent staff, cool under pressure.

In true poker player fashion we all were focused on the hands we were playing and nobody actually realized it was happening. The gunman pointed his weapon at the cashier with his back to the room.

“We are working with Metro as they investigate this incident,” Bellagio owner MGM Resorts International said. Bellagio has seen some high-profile heists in recent years, with arguably the most infamous happening in 2010 when a man wearing biker gear took $1.5 million in chips.
Earlier this month, a naked man was caught walking around the Bellagio poker room.
