Atlantic City’s gambling market is on the upswing, and that has prompted two casinos planning summer re-launches to pursue internet betting operations.
According to the Associated Press, both Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (formerly the Trump Taj Mahal) and Ocean Resort Casino (formerly Revel) have filed the paperwork to be licensed online gambling operators in the Garden State. The Division of Gaming Enforcement oversees the licensing and regulatory process.
Right now, five of Atlantic City’s seven casinos offer online gambling through their respective tech partners. There are 23 state-approved sites between them.
Internet gambling revenue reached an all-time high of $245.6 million last year, about 25 percent more than what the New Jersey internet gambling platforms won in 2016.
Several years ago, the seaside gambling down had a dozen brick-and-mortar casinos.
Overall gambling win of $2.65 billion last year was 2.2 percent better than 2016.
