On Tuesday, August 29, 2018 the World Poker Tour put out a press release on a new partnership between the WPT and partypoker LIVE. The announcement details a four-year deal between the two companies that will see them combine forces for “up to seven events across Canada and Europe, with each having a prize pool guarantee up to €3 million.”
The partnership will see players able to qualify for WPT tournaments online, with ways to win seats into these events from online satellites with buy-ins as low as $0.01. The release stated that each WPT Main Tour event will have a minimum of 300 seats that will be available through partypoker promotions.
Live streaming coverage of the events will be available from both the WPT and partypoker LIVE’s My partypoker LIVE app.
The kickoff event for the new partnership will take place at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal, Canada in late October and will feature WPT500, WPTDeepStacks and WPT Main Tour events. This will mark the first time that the three buy-in levels offered by the WPT will all be hosted at the same festival.

More details regarding other events offered as a part of this new partnership will be announced soon, but the press release did offer that events are scheduled to take place in Sochi, Russia next February and at Dusk Till Dawn in the United Kingdom in April of 2019.
The press release also shared that partypoker LIVE Dollars will be available at select WPT events as a result of the partnership, saying, “partypoker LIVE Dollars are a flexible currency that can be won in satellites on partypoker and used to pay for event buy-ins, travel, hotels, and even visas for the LIVE events. partypoker LIVE Dollars satellites will run weekly guarantees of more than $1.1 million.”
