The Card Player Poker Tour recently partnered up with Card Player Cruises for the fifth time for an event aboard the Allure of the Seas, which spent seven nights cruising around the Western Caribbean.
While the highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the exotic locales of Nassau in the Bahamas, the Mexican island of Cozumel, the island of Roatan in Honduras, and Costa Maya, a stretch of Caribbean coastline on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, there was still plenty of poker to be played as well.
The $25,000 guaranteed, $450 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament ended up drawing a field of 116 cruisers, which generated a prize pool of $45,008. In the end, the title went to Mark Stephen Edwards, who also earned the trophy and the first-place prize of $8,027.
Edwards chopped up the remaining prize pool with three other players, including Jim Meeks, Jim Welsh, and Karina Jett. Edwards, who has nearly $600,000 in live tournament earnings, also owns three WSOP Circuit rings. In 2012, he won a WPT Regional event at bestbet Jacksonville for $107,730.
It won’t be long before another Card Player Cruise sets sail, so check out their upcoming schedules and itineraries. In November, Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas will travel to Cuba, with the Ovation of the Seas headed to New Zealand a few weeks later.
