The World Series of Poker has announced it’s finalized schedule of events for 2020. An unprecedented 101 gold bracelets will be awarded at the 51st annual WSOP, up from a previous record of 89 handed out in 2019. A total of 87 live bracelets will be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, with another 14 online events awarding poker’s most coveted prize to players within the borders of Nevada and New Jersey who are eligible to play on WSOP.com.

The WSOP has been steadily releasing information about the planned events for this year’s marquee poker tournament festival since late in 2019, with previous announcements including info on the popular ‘value menu’ events, increases in high stakes offerings, and a beefed-up schedule of online events. A total of 93 events had already been announced, with the final eight being made public in a press release put out on Thursday, Feb. 27.

The eight new events are as follows:

Start Date Start Time Event Buy-In
June 25, 2020 3:00 PM 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em (4 day event) $5,000
July 14, 2020 12:00 PM 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em (2 day event) $5,000
June 7, 2020 3:00 PM H.O.R.S.E. (3 day event) $3,000
July 5, 2020 3:00 PM 6-Handed Limit Hold’em (3 day event) $3,000
July 8, 2020 3:00 PM 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em (2 day event) $3,000
July 10, 2020 3:00 PM 6-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha (4 day event) $3,000
June 1, 2020 3:00 PM Mixed Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) (A-5, 2-7, Badugi) (3 day event) $2,500
July 13, 2020 3:00 PM Mixed Big Bet Event (3 day event) $2,500

In addition to finalizing the schedule, the WSOP’s latest press release also covered some updates and improvements to the registration and payout process. The first change of note is that in-person registration and payouts for events will be separated into different rooms for the first time, which will allow for more stations to be added to both areas with the goal of easing congestion and decreasing wait times.

“There is no doubt we need to do a better job of getting people in their seats and playing poker faster,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart in regards to the changes for 2020. “We’ve looked closely at several areas in the off-season and are dedicating new resources – technology, equipment and people – to aid in these efforts in 2020. These changes, in conjunction with better informing guests of the required documents needed to register, make us optimistic it can lead to a noticeable improvement."

This year players will need to bring their Caesars Rewards loyalty card (required for entry into events) to the main registration area, which will remain in the Tropical Ballroom. Buy-in payment options include cash, credit/debit cards, wire transfers or cashier’s checks drawn from the registrant’s accredited bank account and made out to the Rio, Rio gaming chips and Rio tournament buy-in chips/credits. Those who’ve lost their physical copy of their rewards card should request a re-print of their card and not apply for a new one. Re-print kiosks will be available in the Rotunda area.

The Palma Ballroom, which sits next door to the main registration area, will now become a dedicated Payout Office. This room was used as the Media Center in recent years, but will now be the place to head when looking to collect their payout from an event.

There will also be 20 kiosks placed throughout the area encompassing the WSOP which will allow players to utilize the Online/ Mobile Registration system to select their event, buy-in and print their seat assignment. The free to setup WSOP Tournament Account, which debuted last year, work as follows according to the WSOP:

“Players wire in funds for WSOP tournament play or put money on account when they arrive. After a player initially sets up this account at the WSOP Main Cage in Tropical Ballroom, the player will have the option to register online or via mobile device (via www.BravoPokerLive.com) for WSOP tournaments with the funds used to initiate the account and simply print seat card(s) at one of the kiosks – avoiding the need to use the registration line to enter events.”

“The WSOP Tournament Account is a no-brainer for anyone who plays more than a couple of WSOP events annually,” said Daniel Negreanu in the press release. “Literally I went to the registration cage once to set it up, then utilized the self-serve kiosks the rest of the summer to register for any event I wanted to play. I was in and out of the kiosk in less than a minute and on my way to my seat."

A dedicated area will also be set up in the Belize Ballroom to help players deal with any registration problems. Players will not be able to actually register for an event in this area but instead can receive assistance in the case that they are having problems with a kiosk or any other issue with an event that a player has already registered for.
