Phil Hellmuth’s hourly rate as a poker coach is apparently $8,750 per hour. At least according to what someone paid for two hours of coaching from the 15-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner.
An anonymous bidder paid $17,500 for a two-hour poker lesson from Hellmuth and a stay at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The bidding for the lesson closed Sunday night.
Hellmuth donated the two-hour lesson and three rooms at the Aria as a part of the ALL IN Challenge, a fundraiser for COVID-19 relief. The charity event is seeking to raise $100 million for organizations that are helping those affected by the economic disaster created from the recent pandemic.
Celebrities are donating a wide range of experiences to be auctioned off or given away in sweepstakes on the site. All the money raised will be donated to six different organizations dedicated to feeding those in need.
“We want to feed people,” said Hellmuth in his video describing the experience. “We can’t have people going hungry. People are losing their jobs. There is a lot of suffering out there.”
Hellmuth challenged Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey to donate something to the cause as well.
The winner will receive a two-hour lesson from Hellmuth for him or herself and up to eight other people. The package also includes three rooms at the Aria.
Other auctions currently running include a batting lesson from Alex Rodriguez, a private magic show and lesson from David Blaine and a tour of Lambeau Field, the locker room, and tickets to a Green Bay Packers game with Aaron Rodgers.
Tickets to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers home opener, dinner with Tom Brady, and his jersey has a current bid of $775,000. To date, the charity has raised more than $21 million.
