The first pot-limit Omaha bracelet of the 2020 World Series of Poker Online has been won by Nathan ‘surfbum’ Gamble. The Texas native outlasted a field of 883 entries to win the $600 buy-in pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better six-max event, earning $89,424 and his second gold bracelet as the champion. Gamble’s prior WSOP victory also came in pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better. He took down the $1,500 buy-in PLO8 at the WSOP to earn $223,339 back in 2017.

This event attracted 497 unique players and 336 re-entries to create a final prize pool of $449,820, which was paid out amongst the top 126 finishers. Among the notable players to make deep runs in the event were Jared ‘darrensrabbi’ Jaffee (96th – $945), Daniel ‘DNegs’ Negreanu (59th – $1,304), Chance ‘BingShui’ Kornuth (39th – $1,754), Mike ‘mouth123’ Matusow (37th – $1,754), Ali ‘sasukeuchiha’ Imsirovic (26th – $2,519), Max ‘MaxSparrow’ Pescatori (10th – $4,813), Jeremy ‘Chipchecka’ Ausmus (8th – $9,097), Shankar ‘burgersssss’ Pillai (16th – $3,059), Randy ‘StayAlive’ Ohel (12th – $4,813), and Ryan ‘Flipflip’ Lenaghan (7th – $10,751).
Gamble knocked out Lenaghan to enter the final table in third chip position behind WSOP bracelet winner John ‘rainman3817’ Esposito and Shane ‘danish01’ Daniels. Simon ‘bagelbites’ Lam was the first to fall at the final table. He got all-in on a Q54 flop with the KKJ10. He was up against the A763 of Daniels. The A on the Turn gave Daniels the best pair, but Lam picked up a wrap draw going into the river. The 4 on the river was of no help, though, and Lam was eliminated in sixth place ($14,484). This was Lam’s fifth cash of the series, with just six events held so far.
Timothy ‘SSJTimmy’ Batow got his last chips in with JJ53 on a 866 flop. He was called by both Esposito with A1032 and Tom ‘hansdigalo’ Schwartz with KKJ8. The 8 and 9 river locked up the pot for Schwartz. Batow settled for $19,792 as the fifth-place finisher.
Despite winning that big hand, Schwartz was the next to be knocked out. He got all-in with AA65 on a KQ10. Gamble called with AQ102. The turn was the 5 and the river the 7. Gamble’s two pair was enough to earn him the scoop. Schwartz cashed for $27,484.
Esposito’s final hand of this event began with his raising to 320,000 from the button with KQJ9. Gamble called holding Q1052 out of the big blind. The flop came down 1084 and Gamble bet 720,000. Esposito called and the 9 hit the turn. Gamble bet enough to put Esposito all-in. Esposito called with his queen-high straight, but was drawing dead against Gamble’s flush with a low draw. The 3 on the river earned Gamble another scoop, and Esposito was eliminated in third place ($38,685).
With that Gamble took more than a 6:1 chip lead into heads-up play with Daniels. In the final hand Daniels raised to 600,000 from the button with KKQQ. Gamble three-bet to 1.8 million with A1053. Daniels shoved for around 3.4 million and Gamble called. The board ran out J7654 and Gamble made a straight and a 6-5-4-3-A low to secure the pot and the title. Daniels was awarded $55,282 as the runner-up.
