The Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino and the National Poker League (NPL) officially announced plans for their new partnership at a press conference inside the Venetian poker room yesterday.

The NPL is a worldwide poker tour that consists of the United Kingdom Open (Aug. 12-18), the Asia Open (Oct. 10-14), the Australian Open (Oct. 21-29), and the Vegas Open (Nov. 24-Dec. 2). The tour culminates in a World Championship tournament (Dec. 3-5). Winners from the main event in each open are also awarded a seat into the season-ending event.

"The NPL brings international flavor with events all around the world. It fits in very well with the environment we have here at the Venetian. The NPL is first class all the way, and we wouldn't want it any other way," said director of poker room operations Kathy Raymond.

The Venetian poker room will serve as the NPL home base. Not only will it be the location for the Vegas Open and the World Championship tournament, but it will also serve as the broadcasting center for all 26 episodes of the NPL television series.

Each episode will be hosted by World Series of Poker bracelet winner and poker professional, Kirk Morrison alongside popular Las Vegas radio personality Dave Farra.

"This will be similar to the composition of a real poker table. I think I'm good at poker, and he really is good at poker," Farra said jokingly during the press conference.

The duo will conduct interviews with the players, tournament directors, and winners, as well as provide professional commentary during the action.

The series is scheduled to air nationally and internationally. NPL has partnered with several television outlets, including MOJO HD, WGN Superstation, and several CBS-owned stations, for syndication. The series is projected to reach 100 million viewers.
