Nuno Capucho Wins 2021 World Series of Poker Online $600 DeepStack No-Limit Hold'em Event

The 2021 World Series of Poker Online $600 buy-in no-limit hold’em deepstack championship event drew a sizable field of 2,820 entries. From that sea of players, only one could emerge victorious with the bracelet and the top prize of $190,274. In the end, it was Portugal’s Nuno ‘Albertov’ Capucho who emerged victorious with the hardware after eliminating all but one final-table opponent.

This was Capucho’s largest-ever recorded tournament score, topping the $64,546 he earned as the 17th-place finisher in the 2016 European Poker Tour Barcelona €5,300 buy-in main event.

The final day began with 49 players remaining and bracelet winner James Chen atop the chip counts. Capucho had overtaken the lead by the time the final table of nine was set. He quickly added to that advantage by eliminating Brazilian poker pro Felipe Ramos in ninth place ($19,027). Ramos ran A-Q into the A-K suited of Capucho, which held to narrow the field to eight. This was Ramos’ second final-table showing of the series, having placed second in a $1,000 buy-in event midway through August for $476,612.

Capucho proceeded to knock out the next four players as well to take a massive lead into four-handed action. Start-of-day leader James Chen was the next to fall, with his K-10 running into the A-10 of two-time World Poker Tour main event champion James Carroll. An ace-high flop left Chen in dire straights, and he found no held on the turn or river. Chen earned $80,237 as the fourth-place finisher.

Despite earning that knockout, Carroll was ultimately the next to hit the virtual rail. He shoved the last of his short stack with 75 and received a call from Capucho, who held AQ. Carroll took the lead with a pair of sevens on the flop, but Capucho rivered a queen to end Carroll’s run at his first bracelet in third place ($106,998).

With that Capucho took roughly a 3:1 chip lead into heads-up play against Karolina Norvaisaite. He was able to extend that advantage even further by the time the final hand of the tournament arose. Norvaisaite raised to 2,640,000 on the button with 44 and Capucho moved all-in holding KQ. Norvaisaite called and the board ran out A103K3, giving Capucho kings and threes for the win. Norvaisaite was awarded $142,683 for her runner-up finish.
