David Jackson Wins 2021 World Series of Poker Online $777 No-Limit Hold'em Event

The 2021 World Series of Poker Online $777 buy-in seven-max no-limit hold’em event drew 2,014 entries, creating a $1,486,634 prize pool that was paid out among the top 314 players. In the end, the lion’s share of that money was awarded to American poker pro David Jackson. The Jacksonville, Florida native took home $194,178 and his first WSOP gold bracelet as the champion.

This was the third-largest score of Jackson’s career, behind two title runs he earned in $2,700 buy-in events at the Borgata in 2019. He earned $304,929 as the Spring Poker Open champion and another $211,334 as the victor in the Fall Poker Open. Jackson’s career tournament earnings are approaching the $2.9 million mark.

The seven-handed final table began with Weilin Wang in the lead and Jackson firmly in the middle of the pack. Masakazu Miyamoto was the first to hit the rail, running a flopped queen-high flush into the flopped nut flush of Dumitru Pora. Miyamoto earned $27,740 as the seventh-place finisher. Ken Okada was the next to fall. His K-J failed to outrun the 87 of World Poker Tour and PokerStars Caribbean Adventure main event winner Michael Watson, who made two pair on the river to send Okada packing in sixth place ($38,366).

Lucio Lima’s run in this event came to an end when his top pair ran into the flopped low two pair of Dumitru Pora. All of the chips went in on the turn and Lima failed to find any help on the river. He earned $53,064 for his fifth-place showing.

Watson got the last of his stack ahead, with his 96 leading the 53 of Wang on a 765 flop. The 5 turn gave Wang the lead, though, and the 9 was not enough to keep Watson’s hopes alive. He cashed for $73,392 as the fourth-place finisher, increasing his career earnings to just shy of $12.6 million in the process.

Despite scoring that knockout, Wang was ultimately the next to be eliminated. He got all-in with AQ leading the A8 of Pora. The flop brought an eight to give Pora the lead. His pair held up through the river and Wang settled for $101,508 as the third-place finisher.

Heads-up play began with Pora holding 19,557,732 to Jackson’s 17,586,122. It didn’t take long for the pivotal hand of the match to arrive. All of the chips got in the middle on a J968 board, with Pora holding KK for an overpair. Jackson had outflopped the pocket kings with 96 making two pair. The A on the end secured the pot for Jackson, who took more than a 50:1 chip lead after the hand. Pora’s last chips went into the pot with his A8 leading Jackson’s K3. The Q777 flop and turn kept Pora ahead, but the K on the river sent the final pot Jackson’s way. Pora earned $140,394 as the runner-up.
