A New Jersey gambler hit a seven-figure jackpot on one of the state’s several online casinos. The $3.5 million payout was the largest in the history of U.S. online gambling.

The jackpot was hit by a gambler identified as “Dori B” on BetMGM’s platform. It just barely edges out the previous online jackpot record set by the same online casino in 2020 when it paid one for $3.2 million.

“Congratulations to Dori on her record-breaking win,” said BetMGM Vice President of Gaming Matthew Sunderland in a statement. “We’re thrilled to offer our players life-changing prizes of this size through our exclusive jackpot network and cannot wait to continue setting records throughout the U.S.”

BetMGM’s online sportsbook is operations in several states, but its online casinos are only available in New Jersey, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

In New Jersey, the gaming giant operates both Borgata Online Casino, Party Casino, and its flagship BetMGM platform. It makes up roughly one-third of the online revenue in the Garden State.

“I saw the Colossal Jackpot prize grow past $3.5 million and started playing MGM Grand Millions slot game because I just knew it had to hit soon,” said Dori B in a statement. “I thought ‘Someone is going to hit it, maybe it could be me.’ On the night I won, all it took was a $10 spin. One second later, I became a millionaire – thanks to BetMGM – and my life has changed forever. I’m a program manager so I see things in phases. My next phase – filled with family vacations and volunteer work – starts now.”

New Jersey’s online gambling market is easily the largest in the country. The industry is coming off a record month in October, the last month of which the state regulators released revenue numbers, with online casinos reporting winning $127 million.
