Julien Perouse is the latest player to secure a title during the World Series of Poker Online. The Frenchman defeated a field of 340 entries in the $3,200 buy-in no-limit hold’em eight-max event, earning his first bracelet and the top payout of $324,767.
This was Perouse’s largest recorded tournament score yet, surpassing the $113,465 he earned as the 16th-place finisher in the 2020 WSOP Online main event. He now has more than $700,000 in career earnings to his name.
The top 54 finishers in this event made the money, splitting up the $1,343,680 prize pool among them. Notables who made deep runs included five-time bracelet winner Brian Rast (37th – $6,853), six-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu (34th – $7,659), four-time World Poker Tour champion Darren Elias (32nd – $7,659), four-time bracelet winner Ben Yu (28th – $7,659), four0time bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus (25th – $8,868), two-time bracelet winner Connor Drinan (15th – $12,765), and bracelet Ethan ‘RampageP’ Yau (9th – $20,290).
Recent bracelet winner Brian Altman scored a double knockout to start the final table, with his pocket tens besting the K-10 suited of Adam Hendrix (8th – $26,336) and the pocket nines of Corey Paggeot (7th – $35,070). Despite winning that big hand, Altman was ultimately the next to fall. The three-time World Poker Tour champion got all-in with pocket deuces facing the pocket aces of two-time bracelet winner Calvin Anderson. The superior pair held up and Altman was sent to the virtual rail in sixth place ($47,835).
Anderson picked up another big pair to earn another knockout. This time around it was pocket kings, which beat out the A-10 of John Riordan (5th – $66,512) to narrow the field to four.
Perouse doubled through Anderson during four-handed action to move into the lead. After
Alexander Greenblatt was eliminated in fourth place ($97,820), Perouse won a preflop race with Q-9 besting the pocket fours of Gabriel Nastasa (3rd – $137,055) to enter heads-up play holding a sizable lead over Anderson. Just a few hands later Anderson shoved from the button with Q4 and Perouse called with 88. the board ran out 766K9 to lock up the pot and the title for Perouse. Anderson earned $202,627 as the runner-up, increasing his career earnings to more than $3.2 million.
