The 2022 UKIPT London £1,100 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event kicked off the European Poker Tour London festival being held at Hilton Hotel on Park Lane. The event, which kicked off on Oct. 18, drew a massive field of 1,458 entries. After four starting flights and three more full days of action, the sea of players was narrowed down to two top European tournament professionals: 2014 World Series of Poker main event champion Martin Jacobson and British online star Conor Beresford, known to many as ‘1_conor_b_1’.

In the end, Jacobson came out on top, earning $260,176 and the trophy for the win. This was his first live tournament title since taking down the world championship for $10,000,000 back in the summer of 2014. The Swedish poker pro now has more than $17.5 million in lifetime earnings, by far the most of any player from his home county. Chris Bjorin is the next-highest on the list with nearly $5.3 million.

Conor BeresfordBeresford took home $162,534 as the runner-up. This was the third-largest live score on his resume. According to PocketFives, he is among the top ten earners in online tournament poker, with more than $17.7 million in cashes reportedly made on the internet. His run in this event brought his recorded earnings to just shy of $1.8 million.

Plenty of notables made deep runs in this event, including Dara O’Kearney (40th), Ludovic Geilich (34th), bracelet winner and EPT champion Roberto Romanello (33rd), and recent Triton Mediterranean Poker Party $100,000 buy-in event winner Punnat Punsri (28th).

Beresford came into the final day as the runaway chip leader, with Jacobson in third chip position. Beresford scored two of the first three knockouts, with Jacobson picking up the one in the middle. Jacobson then made a flush to eliminate Martin Caride in third place, entering heads-up play with 15.6 million to Beresford’s 28.2 million.

Jacobson was able to wrest the lead away from Beresford in time for the dramatic conclusion of the tournament. Jacobson raised from the button with ADiamond SuitAClub Suit and Beresford defended his big blind with 9Diamond Suit2Diamond Suit. The flop came down 9Heart Suit3Spade Suit2Heart Suit, giving Beresford two pair. He checked and Jacobosn made a continuation bet. Beresford check-raised and Jacobson came along with his overpair. The turn brought the AHeart Suit, giving Jacobson top set. He led right out and Beresford raised all-in over the top. Jacobson made the quick call. The QHeart Suit on the end was a mere formality, as Beresford was drawing dead after the turn.
