Brian Luo has come out on top in the $10,000 no-limit hold’em Deep Stack event at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Hollywood, Florida. He captured the top prize worth $291,338, along with the Seminole Hard Rock guitar pick trophy.
Luo now holds close to $500,000 in career earnings, and this is his third tournament victory. Luo has booked four tournament cashes on the year for a total of 720 points in the Card Player Player of the Year race presented by Global Poker.
There were 35 players that returned for Day 2 of the event, and it ultimately came down to a three-way chop to decide the conclusion of the tournament. That decision saw Luo take home the trophy and $291,338, poker tournament professional Danny Wong grabbed $253,331 in second place, and rounding out the final three was Toby Joyce with $234,681 added to his bankroll.
Jeremy Ausmus finished fourth for $88,500 and 456 POY points. This was the five-time bracelet winner’s 11th final-table showing of the year, with one title won and nearly $1.2 million in POY earnings accrued along the way. Ausmus now sits in 10th place in the 2023 POY standings as a result. Sam Soverel, who finished fifth in this event for $68,600 and 300 points, climbed to 16th place on the POY leaderboard after recording his ninth final-table finish of the year.
Sixth-place finisher Joey Weissman was awarded $56,700 and 240 points for his after making his fourth final table of 2023. With two titles won and more than three-quarters of a million in to-date POY earnings, he has also moved inside the top 20 in the POY rankings.
The tournament attracted a field of 149 entries to build a total prize pool worth $1,415,500, and the top 19 players all cashed for at least $21,200. The players that made the money before the final table included Otto Palacios (10th), John Racener (11th), Kyle Ngiyen (12th), Giorgiy Skhulukhiya (13th), Jim Collopy (14th), Jesse Lonis (15th), John Krpan (16th), Harrison Ashdown (17th), David Stamm (18th), and Filipp Khavin (19th).
