Roland Rokita defeated a field of 225 entries in the $20,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event at the 2024 Triton Super High Roller Series Jeju festival. The Austrian earned a career-best payday of $904,000 and his first Triton title for the win.

“It means a lot,” Rokita told Triton reporters after the win. “I came here, I prepared a lot. To lift the trophy, it’s unbelievable.”

In addition to the hardware and the money, Rokita also secured 1,152 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. This was his first recorded cash of the year, but it alone was enough to shoot him up the standings and into 38th place in the 2024 POY rankings presented by Global Poker.

The sizable field for this event, which took place at the Landing Casino Jeju, built a prize pool of $4,500,000 which was paid out among the top 39 finishers. Several big names fell just short of making the final table, including five-time bracelet winner John Juanda (15th),

By the time the final table was set, two-time European Poker Tour champion and World Poekr Tour main event winner Mike Watson (12th), and five-time Triton Poker winner Danny Tang (11th).

The final table began with Aleksandr Zubov in the lead and Rokita in third chip position. He scored a double knockout, busting Yu Xiangyu (9th) and Tobias Schwecht (8th) to narrow the field to seven.

Mikita BadziakouskiFour-time Triton winner Mikita Badziakouski’s pocket tens then held up against the A-10 suited of Damir Zhugralin (7th – $154,000) to further thin the numbers. Bracelet winner Leon Sturm’s run in this event concluded when his 7-6 suited was unable to overcome the pocket eights of a surging Rokita. Sturm made a pair of sixes on the flop, but failed to improve any further and was eliminated in sixth place ($210,000).

Rokita scored the next knockout with the same hand, this time winning a flip against the A-Q suited of Zubov. Rokita hit a set and held from there to send Zubov home with $278,000. He scored another big elimination when his A-9 beat out the A-5 of Badziakouski, who had slid to the bottom of the counts during short-handed action. Badsiakouski earned $355,000 for his latest deep run in a Triton event. The Belarusian now has nearly $53.7 million in recorded earnings, the fifth-highest total of any player in the game.

Kiat Lee lost a race for most of his stack with pocket sevens facing the A-10 of Sirzat Hissou. He was left on fumes after that, and Hissou soon finished the deal to set up a heads-up showdown with Rokita. Lee earned $439,000 as the third-place finisher.

Rokita began with a 2:1 lead over Hissou. The tables were turned when Hissou’s A-7 suited cracked the pocket kings of Rokita, but Rokita soon doubled with A-3 making a wheel to beat the pocket sevens of his opponent. The final hand of the tournament pitted pocket deuces for Hissouw against the pocket nines of Rokita. The larger pair held up and Hissou was eliminated in second place ($599,000).

Here is a look at the payouts and rankings points awarded at the final table:
