Finland has been well represented so far at the 2024 PGT PLO Series. With four events in the books so far from the 10-event schedule, half of the champions to emerge have come from the Northern European nation. Just a couple of days after Eelis Parssinen successfully defended his title in the $7,600 PLO bounty event, Samuli Sipila came out on top in the $10,100 buy-in pot-limit Omaha tournament. The Helsinki resident defeated a field of 89 entries to earn a career-high score of $240,300 and his first PokerGO Tour title.

This was the third recorded tournament win for Sipila, with all three coming in PLO events. He now has $1,012,911 in lifetime earnings to his name after this latest victory.

He also earned 240 PGT points for the win, enough to catapult him into the lead in the series-long points race for the time being. The 480 Card Player Player of the Year points he earned put him into a multi-way tie for 420th place in the 2024 POY race standings presented by Global Poker.

While 13 players made the money in this event, only six moved on to the second and final day of action inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino Las Vegas. Arthur Morris held the chip lead to start, with Sipila sitting on the next-largest stack. The gap between the two was narrowed considerably in the early going. Sipila knocked out Artem Maksimov ($44,500) to add to his stack, while Morris doubled up short stack Andre Cruz to slide a bit closer to the pack.

Sipila then busted Cruz in fifth place ($62,300) to bounce back from a brief downturn of his own.

Bracelet winner Christopher Frank was the next to hit the rail. He got all in with two pair facing the flush draw and gutshot of Sipila. Both draws came in, meaning Frank settled for $80,100 as the fourth-place finisher.

There was a lot of movement around the leaderboard during three-handed play, but eventually, Sipila won a big pot off of Morris that left the latter player on fumes. Morris got the last of his stack in with a pair in a gutshot, but could not overcome the overpair held by Sipila. Morris earned $111,250 for his third-place showing.

Stefan Christopher and Sipila enjoyed an action-packed heads-up battle, with Christopher scoring several crucial double-ups to keep his hopes alive. Eventually, Sipila won a big one with two pair against an overpair to take a decisive lead. Christopher’s last chips then went in with KSpade SuitJHeart Suit7Diamond Suit6Heart Suit facing the ASpade SuitJDiamond SuitJClub Suit7Heart Suit of Spila. The board ran out 8Spade Suit7Spade Suit3Heart Suit6Club Suit3Diamond Suit, giving Sipila the winning two pair on the end to bring the event to a close. Christopher earned $155,750 as the second-place finisher, the largest score yet on his tournament resume.

Here is a look at the payouts and rankings points awarded on the final day:
