Sascha Wilhelm Wins 2024 WSOP Pot-Limit Omaha Mystery BountyGerman Defeats Field of 4,280 Entries To Earn First Bracelet and $282,290 |
|
The first-ever $1,000 buy-in live mystery bounty pot-limit Omaha event held at the World Series of Poker drew a sizable field of 4,280 entries to create a prize pool of $3,616,800. From that overall prize pool, $1,284,000 was set aside for the mystery bounties, which were only paid out among those who made it to day 2 and scored a knockout.
The largest chunk of the main prize pool was ultimately awarded to Germany’s Sascha Wilhelm, who emerged victorious with his first bracelet and the top prize of $282,290. This was nearly 12 times the size of his previous top tournament score of $23,624 that was earned for a win in a €220 buy-in at the 2014 Eureka Poker Tour Rozvadov series.
This win also conveyed 1,320 Card Player Player of the Year points upon Wilhelm, enough to see him catapulted into 250th place in the 2024 POY standings presented by Global Poker.
Plenty of big names joined WIlhelm in running deep in this event, including two-time bracelet winner Evan Sandberg (36th), bracelet winner Scott Bohlman (22nd), two-time bracelet winner Robert Cowen (10th), and two-time bracelet winner Bryce Yockey (7th).
James Cavanaugh earned a career-best score of $188,190. His prior top finish was the $91,832 he earned for a 12th-place showing in a 2022 $50,000 pot-limit Omaha event.
