The 2024 World Series of Poker is now in the books and series officials have released some numbers from the festival that show just how big the series turned out.

This year’s series produced several new WSOP and live tournament poker records. That included Jonathan Tamayo, of Humble, Texas, coming out on top of the largest main event field ever with 10,112 players and a $10 million first-place prize. The tournament also saw the largest prize pool for a single event in live tournament poker history at just over $94 million.

“It’s special to see the passion for poker continue to deliver records on an annual basis,” WSOP Senior Vice President and Executive Director Ty Stewart said. “The laundry list of records that were shattered this summer at the WSOP continue to show that the poker renaissance is upon us.”

Big Numbers

WSOP officials also made note of several other records and accomplishments. In total, the series produced 229,553 entries from all tournaments, the most all-time. The main event set a single-day entrants record on July 6, with 5,014 players as part of flight 1D.

The prize pool for the $25,000 PLO High Roller became the largest pot-limit Omaha prize pool in live tournament poker history at $11.2 million, while the $1,000 Mystery Bounty PLO became the largest pot-limit Omaha field with 4,280 entries.

The 10,939 entries in the Millionaire Maker set a record for the largest $1,500 buy-in field in live tournament poker history. The 3,177 entries for the Mid-Stakes Championship became the largest $3,000 buy-in field ever.

A total of 34,717 places were paid at the 2024 WSOP, topping last year’s total of 32,282 for a new record.

This year’s WSOP also set the record for the number of events exceeding $2 million prize pools at 54 and a record for $10 million prize pools at seven.

In related news, series officials also recently announced the official schedule for the WSOP Circuit and action is now already underway at the Choctaw Casino in Oklahoma. Details for the December WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas was also released last week, which includes a massive $50 million guarantee.
