Julian Thew Wins Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Brighton

In-Form Thew is First Player to Win Second GUKPT

Julian Thew won £86,800 for triumphing at the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, Brighton over the weekend. It is the Englishman’s second GUKPT title — he won leg eight of the GUKPT in Plymouth last year just before going on to take the European Poker Tour Baden.

Thew beat 279 other players to win the event — after a 2.5 hour heads-up battle with Karim Louis, which sawJulian Thew wins second GUKPT title Thew overcome a 2-1 chip disadvantage — and also collected his £3,000 seat to the GUKPT grand final later this year from sponsor BlueSquarePoker.

The final table payouts were: 

  1. Julian Thew -- £86,800
  2. Karim Louis -- £46,200
  3. Jim Reid -- £30,800
  4. Michael Bolger -- £22,400
  5. Joe Grech -- £16,800
  6. Nik Persaud -- £14,000
  7. Marcus Bebb-Jones -- £11,200
  8. Fabio Esposito -- £8,400
  9. Robert Cowen -- £5,600

 
Next stop for the tour is Walsall from Feb. 11-14, and players can qualify on BlueSquarePoker five times a week.
