With the premiere of The Real Deal! show at the Venetian scheduled to take place on Tuesday, many of the best in the game made sure they played on Monday in order to free up their schedule. The result was a ridiculously stacked field of 153, where upwards of 80 percent of the players were notables, leaving few dead-money resources.

After a year-long absence from the tournament trail, the WPT Festa al Lago returned, bringing a total of four WPT stops to Bellagio and its famous Fontana Lounge, which overlooks the fountain show.

Here are the major highlights of the day, as they appeared in Card Player’s live updates page:

Anna Wroblewski Eliminated

Anna WroblewskiOn a board of A-6-2-K-2, Anna Wroblewski gets it all in against Jonathan Tare.

Wroblewski showed pocket sixes for the boat, but Tare held pocket deuces for quads.

Looking a little guilty, Tare said, "To be fair, 90 percent of the chips went in on the river, when I was ahead."

Stacked Satellite Table?

Not only is the field here on day 1A stacked with pros, but the satellite tables are, as well.

Battling it out for a seat over on table 43 is Vinny Pahuja, Noah Schwartz, James Woods, Tony Korfman, Roy Winston, Wayne Boich, and Vinny Vinh. Seated just one table over are Corwin Cole, Emeline Boich, and David Pham.

Ponying up $15,000 for this tournament may not be the wisest investment, but it certainly makes the victory that much sweeter for the eventual winner.

Official Numbers

The official number of entrants for day 1A is 153.

At the end of the day, 85 players were already registered for tommorow, but with satellite entries and late-comers, the field should top off at about 350 when all is said and done.

The 2006 Festa al Lago attracted 433 entrants, but that buy-in was only $10,000. That means that with a decent starting field tommorow, this tournament will easily be able to award more than $1 million for to the winner.

Introducing Michael Phelps

Michael PhelpsWith 11-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth leading as host, 14-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps entered the Fontana Lounge and immediately got the attention of nearly everyone in the room.

As Hellmuth paraded him around, introducing him to several players, Phelps received numerous congratulations, not only for his summer in Beijing, but also for his ninth-place finish in yesterday's $1,500 no-limit hold'em event at Caesar's Palace.

Michael PhelpsAfter telling the same bad-beat story one too many times, Phelps turned his attention to others in the room, such as actor James Woods.

A few moments later, Phelps was asked about the possibility of becoming affiliated with a certain poker site. Phelps casually responded that he likes to remain anonymous when he plays because of his tendency to "talk a lot."

So keep an eye out the next time you suck out, because that person berating you in the chat box may be none other than an Olympic champion.

Phil Hellmuth Eliminated

Phil HellmuthPhil Hellmuth has been eliminated from the tournament by Will "The Thrill" Failla.

Hellmuth pushed all in with A-Q on a queen high flop, only to run into Failla's pocket kings.  The turn and river offered no help, and Hellmuth was sent to the rail.

From the Penthouse ...

After walking by Antonio Esfandiari's table,  we noticed more than 265,000 in chips stacked up in front of him and asked how it happened.

Apparently, former chip leader Scott Montgomery doubled up Esfandiari, and was then later eliminated by him. That's about 160,000 in chips that were shipped across the table to The Magician, who is undoubtedly the chip leader.

Play Ends For the Evening

The remaining 105 players will combine with tommorow's field on Wednesday. Join us tommorow as we continue to bring you all the action live from the Fontana Lounge at Bellagio.
