The final leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Summer Series came to a close yesterday with Birmingham’s Vinny Price’s victory in Walsall.

The 21-year-old joins the GUKPT list of champions after beating 121 players including GUKPT Newcastle winner Tony Phillips, who made it to the final table.

Price beat online pro Toby Lewis heads up to take home £19,520 and a seat in the Champion of Champions event. The final hand came when a 9-6-4 flop put Price ahead with two pair – sixes and fours, whereas Lewis held K-9 for top pair. A four on the turn gave Price a full house, and an eight on the river did no more damage.

The previous winner of the Summer Series, which was held in Aberdeen, was John Angus. This was the first GUKPT event to take place in Scotland.

The main Tour will now takeover in August with its sixth leg at the G Casino on Luton. In the meantime, there is an online festival at BlueSqPoker.com to keep players going. This festival will run from Jul. 20 to 24 and players can qualify via daily satellites at the site for as little as $2.
