Irish Classic Poker Festival Qualifier This Evening

Betfair Hosts Weekly Qualifier; Other Online Poker Rooms Follow Soon

Betfair hosts a weekly $80 + $8 online qualifier this evening Wednesday, July 15 at 9 p.m. BST and every Wednesday until the start of the seventh annual €1,000 + €100 buy-in no limit hold’em main at the Irish Classic Poker Festival. The satellite guarantees one ticket for the main event taking place from Aug. 13 to 16, 2009 in the Macau Sporting Club, Cork, Ireland.

The €100,000 guaranteed main event is now in its seventh year and has a 15,000 chip starting stack with 75 minute blinds which proves popular with big hitters across Europe.

The tournament recently won Best Poker Tournament at the Irish Sports Betting Awards.

This year players who register for the event also get the chance to play in Betfair’s Million Dollar Game live freeroll during the festival on Sunday August 16 which will send one lucky player to play agaist 17 others in a freroll with a $1 million first prize during this year’s World Series of Poker Europe.

Last year local boy Rob Taylor won the event, topping a record field of 169 which included Annette Obrestad, Michael Greco, Ian Woodley, Roy Brindley, Marty Smyth, [[p:Jeff Duval], Sylvester Geoghegan, and Mick McCloskey, collecting €46,000 and the title of Irish Poker Classic champion.

This year over 200 players are expected to attend what has become one of the best poker festivals in Europe.
