There were 108 players including 8 alternates at the British Masters Poker Tour in Teeside last weekend. Sunday saw the business end of the £55,000 prize pool get dealt out as the final players fought for their tournament lives, with Mark Trett coming out on top.

The first few players to go on the final table were:
5th — Dave Maudlin (£3,400)
6th — Lee Danaher (£2,500)
7th — David Hudson (£1,850)
8th — Jimmy McColloch (£1,400)
9th — Ash Hussain (£1,150)

With first, second, third, and fourth supposed to be getting paid £18,350, £11,750, £7,700, and £4,850 respectively, a deal was done. James Gray then went out in fourth place, getting £9,000 for his efforts, a great deal more thanks to the deal.

Another deal was then made between the final three. It was decided that Mark Trett would get £11,000, Dom Mahone £10,000, and David Swan £10,000. The three decided to play for the remaining £1,650, the trophy, and the seat in the sit ‘n’ go.

After many ups and downs, Swan was the first to go leaving Trett and Mahone heads up.

The ultimate hand came on a board reading ADiamond Suit 10Spade Suit 9Diamond Suit JSpade Suit. Mahone bet 60,000 and Trett moved all in. Mahone said, “I’ve got loads of outs, I call!” and turned over 8Spade Suit 2Spade Suit for an open-ended straight draw and a flush draw. Trett showed JHeart Suit 5Heart Suit for top pair. The river didn’t bring any of mahone’s outs, it was the right colour but the wrong suit, the 5Club Suit.

Mahone took home £10,000 and Trett got the remaining bounty. All together it came to £12,650, plus the trophy and the seat.

The Tour now moves on to the Gala Casino in Nottingham for the next leg taking place from Aug. 14 to 16.
