Late Night Stars of Poker Set for Irish TV

Bernard Dunne, Michael Carruth, Ken Doherty and Reggie Corrigan Among Sports Stars for €50,000 Poker Tournament

Donnacha O'Dea plays Late Night Stars of Poker on Irish TVPokerStars.com, in conjunction with TV production company Winmedia, have launched Late Night Stars of Poker which will broadcast on Irish terrestrial TV on Sept. 20 (RTE Network Two) with a host of sports celebrities, poker professionals and online qualifiers.

The TV tournament will feature eight six-seater heats which will comprise two sports stars, two poker pros, and two online qualifiers with the winner progressing to the final table to battle it out for their share of the €50,000.

Among those confirmed so far are are WBA Super Bantamweight world champion Bernard Dunne and Olympic boxing gold medalist Michael Carruth, former snooker world champion Ken Doherty, and former Irish rugby internationalist Reggie Corrigan.

Poker pros in attendance will include World Series of Poker bracelet winner Donnacha O’Dea (pictured right) and Marty Smyth, World Series of Poker main event finalists Padraig Parkinson and Andy Black, and European Poker Tour runner up Fintan Gavin.

The event will be filmed at Citywest hotel which also hosts the Irish Open – Winmedia also handles the TV production duties for this – and online qualification is now open.

Players can play in daily freerolls, daily $1 satellites, or one of three Special VIP Qualifiers. Successful players will win their seat in one of the televised heat, and will also get $500 towards travel expenses.
