As the Asian Poker Tour Macau winds down, another tour takes its place. Today sees the start of day 1A of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour at the Grand Lisboa Casino in Macau.

Last year 538 players turned out for the event, but in the end, accountancy student Eddie Sabat emerged triumphant lifting the $453,851 first prize.

Entry to the event is open until Thursday, which according to its sponsor, PokerStars.net, means, “With over three days before registration closes, the event has already attracted a whopping field of 250-plus players making it on course to be the richest poker tour in Asia.”

The next APPT destination is the 7-Luck Casino in Seoul, South Korea. This stop was meant to kick off on Sept. 17 but due to delays in renovations at the casino, the event has been postponed pending construction completion. The renovations are for the purpose of hosting the APPT.

More details will be announced as soon as possible.
