WCOOP logoThe PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) has had only two players win multiple bracelets in its eight-year history. Last night, the series made room for a third when Ryan “g0lfa” D’Angelo picked up his second bracelet of the 2009 series.

Unknown Canadian player “spawng” was the first to accomplish the task, picking up his first bracelet in 2005 and his second just a year later. In 2006, Kyle “kwob20” Bowker won both of his bracelets, becoming the first player to win multiple events in the same series.

After winning event No. 18, a mixed hold’em tournament for $50,250, D’Angelo tore through event No. 29, this time banking a cool $69,245. Both events had a $300 buy-in. He now has lifetime winnings of over $730,000, including a third-place finish at the 2008 World Series of Poker in event No. 48.

With his two victories, D’Angelo is now the clear leader in the WCOOP Player of the Series leader board with just 15 tournaments to go. If his lead holds, he’ll win not only the trophy, but a 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package, as well.
