The PartyPoker Women’s World Open IV line-up began to take shape yesterday when the company announced it had secured Annette Obrestad (pictured), Kara Scott, Laurence Grondin, Pippa Flanders, Maria Demetriou, Shelly Rubenstein, Kim Wooka, Soraya Homam, and last year’s winner Aisling Collins.
The $3,000 buy-in tournament will be held on March 23 and 24 and features 24 players who will create a $72,000 prize pool. Players will start with 200,000 stacks and blinds of 1,000/2,000.
A PartyPoker.com spokesman said, “Last year Aisling proved that Britain’s got talent but the same can be said about Japan in the form of Kim Wooka. Both will be strong contenders for the title this year. We’ve made the stacks deeper and the competition is just as fierce. It is great to have Kara in the line-up, she made her major breakthrough in the poker world by reaching the final table of the inaugural event and then she went on to cash big at the WSOP Main Event and Irish Open.”
The event will be filmed for TV by Matchroom Sport with Jesse May commentating.
