Mclean Karr Wins the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting StarKarr Takes Home the Top Prize Worth $878,500 |

A final table that began with so much promise flamed out rather quickly on the final day of the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star $10,000 no-limit hold’em main event in San Jose, California. The deep blind structure set up by Matt Savage and his tournament staff struck again on the final day of the tournament and a champion was not crowned until just before 3 a.m.
The winner of the tournament and $878,500 was Mclean Karr, who eliminated three bounties in route to victory. Karr knocked out Erik Seidel, Greg Mueller, and John Cernuto to add $15,000 to his tournament winnings. The notable professionals at the final table did not fair well. Phil Hellmuth (pictured right), Matt Keikoan, Hasan Habib, and Dan O’Brien were the first four players to hit the rail on Friday night. Here is a look at the seating chart when play began:

Hellmuth was active early at the final table and he was the first player to bust 41 hands into the proceedings. He bet 20,000 preflop from the small blind and Andy Seth raised to 80,000. Hellmuth reraised to 280,000 and Seth reraised all in. Hellmuth made the all-in call and they flipped over their cards:

Hellmuth was eliminated on the hand in sixth place ($117,000) and Seth claimed his fourth bounty of the tournament. Matt Keikoan was the next player to fall. He moved all in for 283,000 after Seth raised things up to 56,000 preflop. Seth made the call with pocket nines and Keikoan held A 7. The board ran out 8 6 4 10 A to give Seth a higher flush on the river and bust Keikoan out of the tournament in fifth place ($175,500).
Hasan Habib was on the chopping block after that and he took his stand on a flop of J 2 2, making a call from the big blind after Karr bet 75,000 from the button. Habib then checked, Karr bet 115,000, and Habib reraised all in for 300,000. Karr made the call and they flipped over their cards. Habib held K 10 and Karr flipped over 4 2. The turn and river fell J 4 and Karr won the hand with a full house. Habib busted in fourth place and he took home $234,300 in prize money.
It wasn’t until after midnight when the next player fell and that person was Dan O’Brien. He moved all in preflop for 1,135,000 from the big blind after Seth raised to 135,000 from the button and Karr made the call from the small blind. Seth mucked and Karr made the call with pocket sevens. O’Brien showed down J 2 and the board ran out 5 5 3 10 8 to eliminate O’Brien in third place ($292,800).
Heads-Up Chip Counts:
Andy Seth — 1,785,000
McLean Karr — 4,880,000
Karr began the heads-up final with a big advantage in chips but after an hour of play between the two Seth doubled up with two pair. Seth took a slight lead after betting 420,000 on a board of K Q 6 J 4 to win a 760,000 pot when Karr did not call. He held 3,420,000 over the 3,245,000 of Karr after the hand.
The final hand of the tournament began when Seth raised to 210,000 and Karr reraised to 585,000. Seth reraised all in and Karr made the call. Their cards:

Board: K 10 3 A A
Seth finished in second place and he took home $525,00 in prize money. In addition to that he captured the bounties for Hellmuth, J.C. Tran, Jerry Yang, and Scotty Nguyen. Karr was crowned the champion of the event and he was awarded the top prize worth $878,500.
