This Week in Poker
Even though there was no significant POY movement in the top 10 this week, the World Series of Poker continues to fill up the standings with new contenders. Jason DeWitt (pictured above right) stormed to 24th place in the standings with a victory in event No. 17 ($5,000 no-limit hold’em) that netted him 1,920 points. DeWitt topped 791 opponents and he was awarded $818,959 in prize money.
Pascal LeFrancois became another 1,440 point winner at the WSOP when he topped 2,340 opponents to take home $568,974 along with his POY bounty in Event No. 8 ($1,500 no-limit hold’em). Other 1,440 point winners this week include Simon Watt (Event No. 11 — $1,500 no-limit hold’em) and Steve Gee (Event No. 13 — $1,000 no-limit hold’em), who along with LeFrancois, joined a nine-player tie for 52nd place along with Praz Bansi, Jeff Madsen, Gavin Smith, Joao Barbosa, David Diaz, and Valdemar Kwaysser.
