The PaddyPowerPoker.com Irish Open concluded Monday and the winner had to battle through a sold-out field of 350 players for the title and the largest chunk of the €1 million-guaranteed prize pool.

Dubliner Vincent Melinn was the last person standing Monday evening. He not only won the €300,000 top prize, but also took home an additional €47,375 for believing in himself. Melinn backed himself with a €250 each-way bet at 150-1 with PaddyPower.com, the poker site's sports booking sister.

It was the second live tournament Melinn, who is a 54year-old accountant in his real life, ever played. The €3,200 buy-in no-limit Texas hold'em tournament was held at the Jurys Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin.

The top six were all either English or Irish players. Ian Woodley of England finished second and won €182,000, Brendan Ruane of Ireland finished third and won €90,000, Jon Wong of England finished fourth and won €70,000, Conor Smyth of Ireland finished fifth and won €60,000, and Paul Daly of Ireland finished sixth and won €50,000.
