Online Poker -- Tom Dwan Slowed By URnotINdanger2URnotINdanger2 Wins Majority of Large Pots Versus Dwan in Past Week |

Even though Tom “durrrr” Dwan has been having a great year so far and earlier this month increased his lead to more than $2 million in the Durrrr Challenge, he had a lackluster past seven days due to the recent thorn in his side — Scott “URnotINdanger2” Palmer.
Dwan had trouble in late July with the high-stakes online regular, and it appears to be continuing in the middle of August.
Palmer has been one of the biggest winners over the past week, thanks in part to one of the largest no-limit hold’em pots in that time span.
At stakes of $200-$400 on Full Tilt, Dwan had the button and the small blind. He bet $1,200, and Palmer three-bet to $4,800. Dwan called, and the flop came K 6 6. Palmer continued with $6,400, and Dwan called.
The 10 fell on the turn, and Dwan’s opponent bet $17,400. He called once again. The 7 on the river didn’t slow down Palmer, as he bet $48,800. Dwan called and was shown the 9 6 for trips. Dwan mucked, and Palmer raked in the $154,939 pot.
Daniel “KidPoker” Negreanu has also been running well as of late. Negreanu was able to win a substantial no-limit hold’em pot this past week thanks to a fortuitous river card.
At stakes of $100-$200 on PokerStars, Negreanu had the small blind and the A K. Fredrick “FiSHeYe1984” Keitel bet $600 from the button with the 8 7. Negreanu three-bet to $2,400, and the player in the big blind folded. Keitel called.
The flop came A 8 7. Negreanu led for $3,200, and Keitel raised to $8,600. Negreanu called, and the J fell on the turn. Negreanu checked this time. Keitel fired $17,600. Negreanu moved all in for about $40,000, and Keitel called. Negreanu was behind, but caught up with the J on the river for a superior two pair. Negreanu scooped the $101,399 pot.
Action has also been intense in pot-limit Omaha over the past seven days. One of the largest hands in the discipline went to Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond. After heavy preflop betting at stakes of $200-$400 on Full Tilt, Galfond, Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and Patrik Antonius got all the money in on a flop of Q 10 7.
Sahamies had his stack in the middle with the K J 9 7, and Antonius was all in and temporarily ahead with the Q Q 9 6. Galfond was drawing slimmest with the A A 4 2. The turn brought the 9, giving Sahamies a straight, but providing Galfond with a flush draw. The runner-runner flush came when the K fell on the river. Galfond raked in the $180,055 pot.
According to Card Player’s Omaha odds calculator, Galfond wins only about six percent of the time after the flop.
Gus Hansen has been having one of the worst months in the online community. He is down more than $1 million in August, and even though he won some of the largest pots over this past week, he has been unable to put the brakes on his current downswing.
