Rubie Busted By CheongJul 14, '13 Brendon Rubie is no longer in the tournament as he was knocked out by Joseph Cheong. Cheong explained that he raised, Rubie three-bet and the former November Nine finalist decided to put his opponent all in. Rubie called for 14,000 total and showed ace-king. Cheong had pocket sevens and his hand held up. Cheong is now sitting on 56,000 chips. The flop came Q108, Adams bet 255,000 and Rubie called. The turn was the 5, Adams moved all in and Rubie called. Rubie was all in for his tournament life with KQ for top pair but was behind Adams’ top pair, top kicker with AQ. The river was the A and Tim Adams wins the the gold bracelet. Brendon Rubie was eliminated in 2nd place while Tim Adams wins Event no. 28, taking home the $392,476 grand prize and the twenty-eighth gold bracelet of the 2012 WSOP. Rubie open-shoved the button with Q10 and got there on a J43Q9 board against Timothy Adams’ A8. Rubie turned top pair that hand to double up to over 1 million and then found another double up just a short while later to really start to even things out. Timothy Adams opened the button for 60,000 and Brendon Rubie called from the big blind. The flop came 1032, Rubie checked, Adams bet 30,000 and Rubie called. The turn was the 9, this time Adams bet 80,000, Rubie moved all in and Adams called the check-raise. Rubie was all in for his tournament life with 33 for a set on the flop and had Adams drawing dead on the river with A10 for top pair. Brendon Rubie doubled up to about 2,150,000 that hand while Adams dropped down to about 3.5 million. Adams moved all in on a rag flop with AK and Rubie called with 109. Neither player connected with the board and Adams doubled up to over 3.6 million that hand, taking the chip lead and knocking Rubie down to a distant second place with just about 1.1 million. Adams took a chunk out of Schaaf’s stack this level as well, and despite finding a double up late in the level, James Schaaf was the next player eliminated. Gus Hanses Gains Some Ammo -- Brendon Rubie EliminatedJan 21, '11 Shortly after he was moved up to Studio 3 from the poker room, former Aussie Millions champion Gus Hansen eliminated an opponent at his new table. That opponent was Brendon Rubie. He raised to 4,000 preflop and Hansen reraised to 11,000. Rubie reraised to 34,000 and Hansen moved all in. Rubie made the all-in call and they flipped over their cards: Rubie: 9 9 Board: Q 6 4 5 8 Rubie was eliminated on the hand while Hansen grew his stack to 150,000.
