That is almost as much as the rest of his opponent’s combined. Although he won quite a few hands uncontested, here are two of his larger hands from the level. Athanasios raised to 130,000 on the small blind and Everett Carlton called on the big blind. The flop was dealt J109 and the two players checked. The 9 fell on the turn and Athanasios bet 100,000. Athanasios Polychronopoulos Wins Event #48 ($650,223)Jul 01, '11 Simon Charette Eliminated in 2nd Place ($404,235) Simon Charette started heads-up play with slight chip deficit of 5.7 million to Athanasios Polychronopoulos’s 6.4 million, but quickly outdrew his opponent to double through and steal the chip lead early in Level 32. Polychronopoulos then doubled back through Charette to take the lead once again going into Level 33. Polychronopoulos began to chip away at his opponent over that next level, gaining a 2:1 chip lead on Charette about halfway through. Polychronopoulos then won a big pot after flopping a set, widening the gap to about 10,000,000 to 400,000. Charette scored a few more chips and a well-needed double up before getting it all in before the flop for about 1,400,000 with 9 2 against Athanasios Polychronopoulos’ J 8.
