Kevin Saul Wins Big Pot Without ShowdownJul 13, '13 A player raised to 800 in middle position and both Kevin Saul and Cory Carroll called behind him. The small blind then three bet to 4,200 and all three players called. The flop came down A 7 4 and everyone checked. The turn was the 8 and the small blind bet 7,600, forcing a fold from the initial raiser. Saul thought it over for about 30 seconds before throwing out a stack of blue chips, raising to 37,600. Carroll then thought it over for a couple of minutes, gathering his remaining 27,000 together before ultimately deciding to fold. The small blind folded as well and Saul raked in the pot, but not before flashing the 2 to the rest of the table. Player Tags: Kevin Saul, Cory Carroll Joseph Cheong Sent Packing By Cory CarrollJul 13, '13 We saw Joseph Cheong walking away from the table and ran over to find out the details. According to the table, Cheong six-bet shoved 10-8 suited and ran into Cory Carroll’s A-K. A king on the flop sealed it for Carroll, boosting his stack to 57,000. Cheong exits, perhaps to come back tomorrow for day 1b. Player Tags: Cory Carroll, Joseph Cheong Double For ZinnoJul 15, '13 We just caught another preflop all in, this time Anthony Zinno and Cory Carrol were at it. Zinno was all in for 55,700 chips and the cards were turned face up. Zinno showed AA and was up against Carrol’s 1010. The board ran out 99723 and Zinno doubled up. Carrol has 225,000 chips left in front of him and he’s still doing quite alright. Player Tags: Cory Carroll, Anthony Zinno Pawel Brezski Wins a Nearly 100k PotJul 15, '13 Cory Carroll raised from under the gun, Pawel Brezski three-bet and Carroll made it 14,800. Brezski then five-bet to 24,300 and Carroll made the call. Both players checked a flop of J 6 4 and the 9 hit the turn. Carroll bet 23,700 and Breski called. The river was the A and both players checked. Carroll showed pocket tens, but Brezski’s K J was best, giving him a nearly six-figure pot. Brezski now has 170,000 in chips. Player Tags: Cory Carroll, Pawel Brzeski Cory Carroll Knocked Out, 11 RemainJul 16, '13 Cory Carroll recorded his first live tournament cash since 2009 here at the Venetian, but unfortunately it won’t be more than a min cash. When we arrived on the scene Carroll was facing a shove from Allyn Jaffrey Shulman. Carroll had 30,000 out in front of him from the button and Martin Hanowski had made the call from his immediate left. After a while Carroll called risking his stack worth 260,000. Hanowski folded and the hands were turned face up. Carroll showed 99 against Shulman’s JJ. The board ran out 104679 and while Carroll hit his set it was Shulman who took down the pot with a flush. Shulman is now up to 610,000 chips and just 11 players remain. Player Tags: Allyn Shulman, Cory Carroll Hyon Kim Eliminated On The BubbleJul 16, '13 Cory Carroll opened to 8,000 and Hyon Kim reraised all in for 54,500. Carroll didn’t like it, but called anyway with A 9. Kim showed pocket tens and they failed to hold on a board reading A Q 2 3 3. The remaining 27 players are now in the money. Player Tags: Hyon Kim, Cory Carroll A Long Sweat For Allyn Jaffrey ShulmanJul 16, '13 Cory Carroll raised to 6,500 in the cutoff and John Holley immediately three-bet to 18,000 from the button. Action folded Allyn Jaffrey Shulman, who moved all in for 149,200. Carroll then went into the tank, cutting out a call and realizing that it would be for almost exactly half his stack. He thought long and hard for about 90 seconds, staring down Holley the entire time. Holley looked completely disinterested in the hand, preferring instead to focus on his food bill. Carroll continued to stare him down before reluctantly folding and Holley instantly flicked his cards to the muck as well. “I was hoping you both called,” said Shulman, as she raked in the pot to increase her stack to about 180,000 in chips. Player Tags: Allyn Shulman, Cory Carroll Cory Carroll On The MoveJul 16, '13 In the first half hour of day 3, Cory Caroll has increased his stack size to 310,000 from 210,000 by winning two sizable pots without showdown.
