The Fall and Rise of Forrest
Ted Forrest called a raise from Andrew Brown preflop, and Kia Hooshmand made the call as well. The flop rolled out 7 5 4 and Brown bet. Forrest made the call and the turn brought the Q . Both players checked and the K came off as the last card on the board. Forrest bet and Brown called. He turned up A K 7 3 and Forrest mucked his hand. The loss knocked him down to 400,000, while Brown climbed above 500,000.
Forrest was knocked down even further to 240,000 before ending his dive down the leader board and turning things around.
Ralph Perry raised preflop and Forrest made the call. The flop read K Q 10 and Forrest opened the action. Perry raised and Forrest made the call. The 9 fell on the turn and Forrest led out again. Once again Perry put in a raises and Forrest made the call. They then checked the 8 on the river and Forrest turned up K J J 10 . Perry mucked and Forrest was back in contention once again. He kept the hot streak going and went into the dinner break as the chip leader.
Clements Gets Low
Jim Pechac picked up three bets off of Scott Clements on a board of 10 8 7 K Q when he flipped over A 8 4 2 . Pechac was surprised when Clements mucked his hand. Clements has been faltering in the chip standings after holding the lead for a while, and he was knocked down to just 120,000 heading into the dinner break.

Defending Champion Gets Bluffed
Mar 16, '08
On a flop of A 10 5 , Zach Hyman bets 2,700 from the button and Ralph Perry check raises all in. He has Hyman's remaining 10,000 or so covered and Hyman goes into the tank.
Hyman thinks it over out loud for quite a while, a few times saying that he "could suck out on the river." He puts Perry on A-K and eventually calls the clock on himself. As the 60 seconds count down, Hyman agonizes over his read and practically tells the table that he has A-J. With a few seconds left he convinces himself that Perry must be bluffing, but it is too late and his cards are mucked.
Perry turns over 9 5 and it sends Hyman sprawling away from the table. After he eventually returns, he calls Perry an animal and scolds himself for folding.
Perry is now up to 33,500 and Hyman is left with 9,700.

Hour Three
Jun 24, '07
Razzle Dazzle
Level three was reached and the tournament was now on the first level of razz.
Greatest Preliminary Day Table Ever
Todd Brunson took the vacant seat eight at table 16 and joined Kirk Morrison, Ali Eslami, David Singer, T.J. Cloutier, Mike Sexton, Dewey Tomko, and Phil Ivey. This table had no weak link now, and is arguably the greatest table during a preliminary day in tournament poker history.
Razzed
Brunson got involved in a hand with Singer during the razz level, and Brunson had 5 3 4 3 exposed when he fired out $1,600 on sixth street. Singer made the call and both players were dealt their final hole card. Brunson fired out another $1,600 and once again Singer called. Brunson then turned up his hole cards, 7 6 4 , and Singer mucked.
Tournament Announcements
It was then announced that the tournament will play 15 levels on day one and the players would be sent to dinner at 7 p.m. The tournament staff said they will do their best to stick to this schedule throughout the five day event, speed of play permitting.
Hellmuth Sighting
Phil Hellmuth showed up in his usual style, making a fashionably late appearance. He took his seat right next to David Benyamine at table 13. The table also featured Jason Lester and John Hennigan.
Perry vs. Antonius
With 2 4 K 6 exposed Patrik Antonius fired out $1,600 on seventh street and Ralph Perry reached for his chips with 6 7 9 K exposed. The second Perry made a move toward his chips Antonius instantly mucked his hand.
Stud
It was now level four and the game was seven card stud.
I’m Not Your Huckleberry
Tom Schneider bet $1,600 on sixth street with 3 6 9 5 exposed and Huck Seed mucked with 7 4 J 10 out on the table. There had been a lot of action on this hand, including a $3,200 reraise from Schneider on fifth street, so Huck mucked with a bit of apprehension. Seat five called Schneider down to the end and he flipped up 6 3 3 . Seat five mucked.
Perry vs. Antonius – Part II
Antonius and Perry were at it again and they raised and reraised on fifth street, and sixth street. They both checked seventh street and Antonius flipped up 7 7 (J 7 6 J ) 4 . Perry had Q 10 J 10 exposed and he revealed a single queen before he turned the rest of his cards over and mucked.
We Three Kings…
Dewey Tomko bet $1,600 on fifth street and Phil Ivey mucked. Ali Eslami made the call and T.J. Cloutier mucked before sixth street. Tomko led out on both remaining streets and Eslami called. With the 5 3 5 Q exposed, Tomko flipped up three kings in the hole. Eslami then mucked his hand.
Break Time
After the first stud level expired the players went on a fifteen minute break. When they returned it was for the first seven card stud eight-or-better round.

Hour One Recap
Jun 22, '07
Apparently $4,000 doesn’t provide enough play for J.C. Tran. Having been crippled in a previous hand, Tran finds himself all-in against another player’s Q 4 with a board of A Q J 3 9 . Unable to beat the Queens, Tran mucks and exits quickly today.
With only one quadrant of the Amazon Room filled today, it looks like this field will be very close to the 590 from last year. The number of familiar faces are greater per table than in yesterday’s $1,500 no limit field. At least two pros per table is standard. One table of note is Table 10 which houses Joe Hachem, Erica Schoenberg, Matt Hilger, and Gioi Luong. Schoenberg took a pot off of Hachem early on. The two of them saw a limped flop K Q 7 with one other player. The turn came 8 , Hachem bet $150, and both Schoenberg and the other player called. The river was the 10 , Hachem bet $425, and only Schoenberg called. Schoenberg showed 9 6 , and Hachem mucked. They’ve had a fun time at their table as well. When a new dealer sat down, he asked them, “We’re playing Omaha right?” as he dealt out each player four cards. They all politely corrected him and got back to business.
Apparently the dealers aren’t the only ones who aren’t paying attention. One player wanted to draw attention to the fact that the player in Seat 1 had won with a walk in the big blind. This is only interesting because Seat 1 had yet to arrive at his table. Somebody should nudge the Player in Seat 10 and wake him up.
Another stacked table of note includes Michael Mizrachi, Jon Friedberg, Ralph Perry, Jean Gaspard, and Eric “Rizen” Lynch. Lynch along with John Gale, and Doug Carli will be mapping their progress today in our Pro Blogs.

Down to Ten
Jun 21, '07
There are only ten players remaining in day two of event #33, $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha w/rebuys. The players have redrawn and are down to a single table with only one elimination remaining before the day is over.
The following players have been eliminated in the following order:
16th Place - Brad Berman ($17,685)
15th Place - Michael Binger ($19,320)
14th Place - Jorge Arias ($19,320)
13th Place - Daniel Harmetz ($19,320)
12th Place - Ralph Perry ($21,054)
11th Place - Len Ashby ($21,054)
Micheal Binger was eliminated after going all in preflop against Erick Lindgren. Three hearts peeled off on the board and Binger's two pair of jacks and twos was dominated by Lindgren's king high flush.
Len Ashby was eliminated in a three way all in hand involving Erick Lindgren and Chris Bjorn. Lindgren had A A Q 9 , Bjorn was holding A J 9 2 and Len Ashby pushed with Q J 10 5 . The board came down Q 8 6 10 6 and Bjorn picked up the pot with a straight. Ashby was eliminated in 11th place and Lindgren took a big chunk out of his stack.
The ten remaining players are going to play until there is one more elimination and the final table is established. Check back with CardPlayer.com to see who makes it.

Dinner Makes It All Better
Jun 16, '07
The long, slow grind that is the $5,000 H.O.R.S.E. event had definitely taken its toll on the 46 players that came back from the dinner break. But the dinner break allowed many of the players' spirits to rise and while the action is still relatively slow, the players are laughing and joking around with each other much more than before. Apparently, Sam Grizzle skipped dinner, because he has since picked up a big bag of beef jerky and is munching away while raking in pot after pot.
During the last hour we lost seven players, including 2007 bracelet winner Chris Reslock and John Juanda. Still remaining in the field are notables Bill Gazes, Sam Grizzle, Gavin Smith, Doyle Brunson, Robert Mizrachi, Ali Eslami, Erik Seidel, Phil Ivey, David Benyamine, Keith Sexton, Ralph Perry, Daniel Alaei, Cliff Josephy and Toto Leonidas.
The shortstacks seemed to all hang around for a long while during the Stud eight-or-better round and it wasn't until the Hold'em round that players started hitting the rail or doubling up.
Robert Mizrachi got it all in with 10 10 against his opponent's A Q on a flop of 7 6 2 . The turn and the river came 4 9 and Mizrachi doubled up to $40,000, keeping alive the quest for his second final table of the series.
By the end of the level we were down to 39 players with roughly 80 spectators crowded behind Doyle Brunson's table, seeing if Texas Dolly and "Casper" can possibly bring home their 11th bracelet.
Ali Eslami is looking to make his second H.O.R.S.E. event final table of the series. After his disappointing finish in the $2,500 H.O.R.S.E., Eslami is looking for redemption.
We're paying the final three tables in this event, and play will continue down to the final table.
Stay tuned to CardPlayer.com for action from every event at this year's World Series of Poker.
