Here Comes Pilgrim...Dec 19, '10 Allen Bari found himself mostly all in preflop with pocket jacks against the pocket queens of Dwyte Pilgrim. Pilgrim accidentally exposed his hand, before the king-high flop came out, but Bari was too pot committed to fold anyway and threw in his last couple of blinds. The turn and river failed to help and Bari was eliminated. Pilgrim now sits with 62,000 in chips. Player Tags: Allen Bari, Dwyte Pilgrim Dwyte Pilgrim On The RiseDec 19, '10 Dwyte Pilgrim can’t catch Tom Marchese in the Card Player Player of the Year race, but that doesn’t mean he’s giving up on this tournament. Josh Brikis raised his button to 425 and was called by both Amnon Filippi and Pilgrim in the blinds. The flop came down KQ7 and Brikis continued with a bet of 1,500. Filippi folded and Pilgrim called. The turn was the 10 and Pilgrim led for 2,500. Brikis called and the river was the 10. Pilgrim bet 3,500 and Brikis reluctantly folded, leaving himself with 27,000. Pilgrim is back up to 25,000. Player Tags: Dwyte Pilgrim, Josh Brikis Player Of The Year UpdateDec 19, '10 Dwyte Pilgrim has just shown up, but there’s some bad news for him on the Card Player Player of the Year front. He’s currently 1,162 points behind Tom Marchese, but in order for him to make up that ground, this tournament will need to attract a field of at least 195 players. That’s going to be difficult, considering we are only at 100 entrants so far. The field is expected to grow over the next five levels of registrations, but doubling in size is out of the question. Unless there’s some unknown tournament happening in the next two weeks that we don’t know about, it looks like Marchese will be the 2010 Player of the Year. When told that it would be impossible for Pilgrim to catch him, Marchese decided not to play in the event at all, even though there’s a great opportunity to lock up a seat in the National Championship in Las Vegas. Instead, Marchese will spend his afternoon watching the New York Giants take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Player Tags: Dwyte Pilgrim, Tom Marchese Dwyte Pilgrim EliminatedDec 20, '10 Dwyte Pilgrim has busted out of the tournament and he will end up with 5,576 Card Player Player of the Year points in 2010, which is good for second place overall. His impressive run this year included five tournament titles, 13 final-table appearances, and 1,074,997 in prize money. Pilgrim can still be surpassed by Sorel Mizzi (4,851 points) and Vanessa Selbst (4,608 points) who are both still alive in this event. Player Tags: Dwyte Pilgrim Mizzi vs. PilgrimDec 20, '10 There was 13,000 in the pot and a board that read K 6 3 4 sitting on the table when Sorel Mizzi bet 8,000 from middle position. Dwyte Pilgrim raised to 23,000 from the button and Mizzi made the call after a minute or two of thought. The river fell 5 and Mizzi checked. Pilgrim checked as well and Mizzi turned over pocket fours to win the hand. Player Tags: Sorel Mizzi, Dwyte Pilgrim |
