Pope made the call with AJ and had Williams and his QJ dominated. The board came 10323Q, however, and Williams doubled up to about 20,000. Shaun Deeb Hits The Rail Shaun Deeb had just under 18,000 when he made his move with A-K only to run into an opponent’s pocket jacks. Deeb paired up on the flop, but his opponent made a set to see his tournament run end. Justin Smith Exits Courtesy of Andreas Hoivold On a flop of J54, Andreas Hoivold bet 2,050 and Justin Smith reraised to 5,250 behind him. Hoivold then put Smith all in and the two-time Bellagio Cup final tablist made the call. Hoivold showed Q8 for a flush draw and Smith showed J9 for top pair. Soi Nguyen — 100,000 Average Chip Count: 26,149 Notable Eliminations: Justin Smith Big Hands: Soi Nguyen Takes the Chip Lead Soi Nguyen is the only November Nine member that is in action on day 1A of the tournament and he just won a huge hand to take the chip lead. The pot took him up to 100,000 and he held JJ in the hole on a board that held a third jack. His opponent also had a set, although when his two nines were joined by a third on the river it sealed his fate and made Nguyen the chip leader heading into the second break. Earlier during round 2 Nguyen had doubled up to grow his stack to 65,000. He moved all in for his final 8,975 into a pot worth more than 50,000 and one opponent called him down. The board read 104276 at the time. Nguyen turned over 53 and his opponent mucked. David Baker Eliminated After one player raised to 700 preflop from middle position Nguyen made the call and David Baker moved all in from the big blind. The player that opened the pot made the call and Nguyen mucked. The final two players then flipped over their cards: Baker: 88 Board: AJ8QQ His opponent hit running queens to win the hand and Baker was eliminated from the tournament. Jerry Yang Eliminated Jerry Yang moved all in for 6,000 on a flop of J44 and one opponent made the call. Their cards: Yang: AJ Turn and River: 7 and Q Yang was eliminated on the hand. Justin Smith Eliminated Justin Smith moved all in on the turn with Q-4 in the hole on a A-4-4-7 board. He was up against the A-7 of his opponent and the river only made matters worse, bringing another 7 into the mix. Smith was eliminated on the hand. Nguyen exposed the A843 while D’Angelo exposed the AA95 and was far ahead. The 10 on the turn and the 5 on the river didn’t change anything. Nguyen was eliminated and remaining players are now in the money. Justin Smith Wins a Large Pot Justin Smith bet the pot on a board of AK3310. Mark Eddleman tanked and was at 45,000 after the hand. Smith climbed to 185,000.
