The 2002 World Series of Poker is less than two weeks away. See Page 23 for a complete schedule. Stay tuned for my World Series predictions in upcoming issues.
We have received many requests from readers for a middle- and high-limit seven-card stud column. Beginning in this issue, Grant Strauss, a successful middle- and high-limit seven-card stud professional, will be writing a semiregular column entitled "Seven-Card Stud … And More."
If you live in Las Vegas, or will be in town on vacation or for the upcoming events at Bellagio or the World Series of Poker, be sure to treat yourself to a great dinner at Café Maurice. Two poker players from France, Pierre Peretti and Maurice Azoulay, invite poker players to try their fine French cuisine at very affordable prices. You will love the food, and the restaurant is only five minutes from Bellagio. See Page 71 for more information on my favorite restaurant in Las Vegas.
A few excellent new poker books have recently come out and are available through Card Player. "The Coach" Bob Ciaffone and Jim Brier wrote Middle Limit Holdem Poker, which utilizes concrete examples to illustrate winning middle-limit hold'em principles. Greg Dinkin's book, The Poker MBA: Winning in Business No Matter What Cards You're Dealt, provides analogies from the business world that are useful in poker, and vice versa. Finally, David Sklansky has completed his book Tournament Poker for Advanced Players. Sklansky gives readers tournament-secret information that can make average tournament players excellent players, and excellent players champions.
Bellagio Poker Room Host/Tournament Director Jack McClelland has announced that one-table satellites for the $3,000 no-limit hold'em tournament April 16-18 will commence on April 9 at 11 a.m. Each player will receive $1,800 in chips and there will be 20-minute rounds.
Currently I am making preparations to go to Bay 101 for the Shooting Star tournament April 6-8. This will be the first time that I've played in this event, and I will report on it in the next issue.
