In Card Player TV’s show All Inbox, fans can get advice from the world’s most successful poker pros by sending their questions to [email protected]. In this edition, Allen from Las Vegas got his questions answered by John Juanda, the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe winner and owner of four WSOP bracelets.
Question: Why have you cut down on playing live tournaments?
John Juanda: I’ve been playing poker for 13 years now. I used to follow the tournament circuit like a lot of the young, aspiring players nowadays. I tried to play all of the smaller tournaments to build up my bankroll, and even tried to win the Player of the Year award that Card Player has. I think I almost won it two years in a row. I finished second twice. But now, I’ve been playing for so long that I kind of pick my spots. I can’t spend so many days on the road all the time.
Q: Have you lost a little bit of passion for playing poker, or is it still there when you do get a chance to play?
JJ: I have lost quite a bit of my passion, actually. That’s why I have decided to skip a lot of tournaments, but for the big tournaments like the World Series of Poker or other big events, I still get excited.
