The 2013 Card Player Poker Tour Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza III main event wrapped up early Thursday morning in Las Vegas, and it was Allyn Jaffrey Shulman with all the chips.
She claimed a top prize of $293,966, which brings her lifetime earnings to about $1.2 million.
A total of 262 poker players put up the $5,000 entry fee to build a prize pool of $1,224,850. Five days of intense action made up the schedule. The final table also included the likes of tough live tournament pros Jonathan Little and Dan O’Brien.
Arguably Shulman’s most crucial hand of the final table began with her raising to 40,000 from the small blind, when the stakes were 10,000-20,000. Jonathan Little made the call from the big blind, and the two players were set to play a tricky blind-versus-blind pot.
The flop fell JJ4 and Shulman moved all in for 694,000. Little immediately looked sick about his hand, but eventually opted to make the call, showing 99. Shulman turned over AA. The turn was an ace, and she had her opponent drawing dead.
The prize money was the second largest of her poker playing career. She won the $1,000 buy-in World Series of Poker Seniors Event in 2012 for her first gold bracelet and $603,713.
