Hoyt CorkinsIt was a long and grueling grind to a payday during day 3 of the WPT L.A. Poker Classic. It took nearly 14 hours for the field of 238 to break down to the final 63 that made up the money. In the end, it was long time poker pro and former WPT champion Hoyt Corkins who was left on the outside looking in.

Despite playing hand-for-hand for nearly two hours, only 20 hands were dealt during the process resulting in many short stacks who clung to as few as three blinds. Corkins was not one of the smallest stacks, but made his final move with pocket queens. Mike Sowers woke up with pocket kings and they held to guarantee the other 63 players in the room at least $22,230. The winner will earn $1,654,120.

Leading the field on Monday will be Jason Dewitt, who finished the night as the only player over the seven-figure mark with 1,023,000. Other notables still remaining include Scott Seiver, Michael Mizrachi, Kathy Liebert, Joe Hachem, Ted Lawson, Daniel Alaei, Lauren Kling, Steve Gross, Allen Cunningham, Jason Senti, Carlos Mortensen, Shannon Shorr and Mike Sowers.

The action will resume at 1:30 p.m. on Monday and will continue until the field reaches the final 27 players.
