Annette ObrestadThere was a lot of main event action taking place this week around the world, therefore the Twitter lines were buzzing. Card Player Europe kept an eye on what some of the big names of European poker were saying.

There were two main interactions this week, but they could not have been more different.

Early on in the week, Annette Obrestad tweeted, “Playing the 5k Main at the Wynn tomorrow. Will actually b my first live tourney here this trip. Been busy with other stuff. Gonna win.”

She wasn’t too far off the mark however as on March 25, she popped up on our radar again, saying, “Just got 2nd in the Wynn ME, Played hu for 6 hours with @Thetmay, he played great. Was anyones game and he came out on top this time. GG man.”

Thetmay is her opponent Tim West's Twitter username. West took down the 2011 Wynn Classic Championship for a payday of $318,738. Obrestad received $215,922 for her runner-up finish. West responded to Obrestad via Twitter, exclaiming, "Annette_15 played an unreal good hu match. We played for around 6 hrs hu and she deserved to win as much as I did. Gg Annette."

He also later said, “Unreal feeling right now. Thank you all for your love and support. It’s so near and dear to my heart to read it all….”

The rivalry was clear between eventual winner Vladimir Geshkenbein and runner-up Kevin Vandersmissen as the final table progressed, and soon what had become a war at the felt eventually transferred over to the virtual world.

Geshkenbein who goes by the name PKR_Beyn on Twitter, at one point exclaimed, “Up to two mil.. Valuetowned a fat Belgium guy.”

Vandersmissen who goes by Civel on Twitter wasn’t going to take it lying down and soon responded, “Valuetowned the russian alcoholic! 6.6mill now play resumes in 5 min.”

Geshkenbein kept up his needling both live and online, “Omfg!!! Did a major suckout on Italian guy.. 3 people left did a deal 260k guaranteed … Yaaaay!!”

His final Tweet on the matter was, “Powned fat Belgium guy ship the trophy and the moneyz.”

Check back next week to find out what some of the biggest names of poker are talking about or indeed what could set Twitter alight next.
