La Sengphet Leads WSOP Circuit National Championship After Day 1Only 35 Players Remain In Hunt For 2011's First WSOP Bracelet |

One of the perks of playing in a freeroll is that you know exactly what you are playing for before you sit down at the table. The 100 players who qualified for the WSOP Circuit National Championship gathered at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and before the first cards were pitched, everyone in the tournament already knew that the winner would walk away with $300,000 and this year’s first WSOP bracelet.
Despite the possibility of a substantial payday, play was fast and loose on day 1, as the field quickly whittled themselves down to 35 in just eight levels of action.
The list of casualties was filled with notables and included Steve Zolotow, Allie Prescott, Ali Eslami, Todd Terry, David Sands, Blair Hinkle, Chris Bell, Andy Frankenberger, Steve Brecher, Brandon Adams, Shannon Shorr and Matt Waxman.
Then again, there is still a fair amount of star power remaining in the field of survivors which includes Chris Klodnicki, Allen Kessler, David Peters, Bernard Lee, Curt Kohlberg, Doug Carli, Kyle Cartwright, Tim West and 2010 Card Player Player of the Year runner up Dwyte Pilgrim, who is always dangerous on the circuit.
La Sengphet cruised through the day, amassing a monster stack of 165,000 on her way to the chip lead. The Dallas native was one of the at-large players who qualified thanks to a solid season of play. Sengphet cashed seven times and picked up two Circuit rings, earning a total of $67,094. She’ll have over three times the average when play restarts at noon on Saturday.
Here’s a look at the remaining players and their chip counts entering day 2.
