Native American Casino Poker Tour Choctaw -- Day 1 RecapBobby McClelland Leads Remaining 51 Players |
|
A total of 324 players put up the $1,000 buy-in for Card Player’s Native American Casino Poker Tour Main Event on Saturday, making the inaugural event at Choctaw Durant a great success. While the field was mostly comprised of local players from Oklahoma and Texas, the pros came out as well.
Among the notables in the field were T.J. Cloutier, Dennis Phillips, Adam Geyer, Allen Carter, Tommy Vedes, La Sengphet, John “Tex” Barch, Mario Silvestri, Gregg Merkow, Brandon Terry and Clint Tolbert. Of those players, only Carter made it through the day, finishing up with 51,000 near the bottom of the pack.
Carter, a former World Poker Tour champion, will have his work cut out for him on Sunday as he battles the other 50 players who survived the first day of play. Among those who excelled on Saturday was Bobby McClelland, Jeremy Vaughn, Sebastian Tejada, Jason Simon and Seneca Easley.
Those fortunate to make the final table will not only be fighting for the lion’s share of the $290,681 prize pool, but they’ll also be shown on Card Player TV’s live stream which will feature guest commentary from Dennis Phillips.
The winner of the tournament will go home with $68,309, but they’ll also get their photo placed on the cover of an upcoming issue of Card Player Magazine. You can watch all the action on Sunday starting at 2 p.m. CST as the field plays down to a champion.
