Japan’s Yoshitaka Okawa has won the HKD$11,000 buy in PokerStars Macau Poker Cup: Red Dragon beating 531 opponents to lift the HKD$1,123,000 (€108,726) top prize.

The nine events at the MPC saw a total of 1,700 entrants and prize money of HKD$10.1 million (US$1.3 million).

Danny McDonagh, PokerStars director of live operations for Asia-Pacific, said “It’s a great result and when you consider that the Macau Poker Cup was held between the PCA and Aussie Millions it’s that much more remarkable.

“Those are two of the biggest poker events in the entire year and this week just shows how much Asia loves the Red Dragon.”

The final table payouts in the Red Dragon main event were:
1: Yoshitaka Okawa (Japan) — $1,123,000 (€108,726)
2: Zhenwu Wang (China) — $784,000 (€75,930)
