Eric Buchman is best known for his fourth-place finish in the 2009 World Series of Poker main event, which earned him a $2.5 million payday. The New York native has found plenty of success at the WSOP outside of that score, however, with a bracelet in limit hold’em, second-place finishes in eight-game and limit hold’em events and a third-place finish in a seven card stud event. Now Buchman can be known as a multiple bracelet winner after topping
a field of 345 players in the 2014 WSOP $1,500 seven card stud event, winning his second gold bracelet and the first-place prize of $118,785.
“The limit hold’em one was my first bracelet, so that was sweeter, but this one was really, really sweet,” Buchman told WSOP.com after his win. “It’s definitely a close second, but you’re first bracelet is always gonna be the best.”
The final day of the event restarted with six players, with a number of notables in the mix including Buchman, Bryn Kenney and 2008 November Niner Alexander Kravchenko. In the end it came down to the two former main event final tablists, each vying for their second WSOP title. Buchman went into heads-up play with nearly a 2-to-1 chip advantage, and was able to steadily chip up until landing the final blow with a full house against Kravchenko’s pair and busted straight draw. With that Kravchenko was sent to the rail as the runner-up, earning $73,360 for his deep run.
“He played really well today, it just didn’t go his way. I have so much heads-up experience in this game that I really felt good. I didn’t want to go heads-up against him,” admitted Buchman, “Because I felt like Kravchenko was the better player [at the table], but it worked out.”
Here is a look at the payouts and POY points awarded at this final table:
