The final starting day of the inaugural Card Player Poker Tour St. Maarten main event came to a close with a total of 138 entries and a $207,000 prize pool.
Mark Gregorich leads the final 39 players with a stack of 231,900. Joan Sandoval put away 203,300 for the night and Slamani Tahar will return with 199,100.
bestbet Jacksonville regular Mark Stephen Edwards bagged the Day 1A chiplead (164,400) and will be near the top of the pack when Day 2 begins.
Jesse Hollander, bestbet Jacksonville Director of Poker Operations, and Kristy Moreno will also be back on Day 2.
The final 39 players will return at 2 pm local time on Saturday and play down to a winner. Live updates of all the action will be provided on CardPlayer.com.
The eventual champion will be the fifth main event winner of Season III of the CPPT, joining Fred Paradis, Maxim Sorokin, Nick Weinberg and Chan Pelton on the list of champions.
This could be the stop to crown the tour’s first two-time champion as 2013 CPPT Venetian Deepstacks main event winner Allyn Shulman is still in the field. Shulman is also the tour’s all-time money winner.
